We were blessed with the new Human Dream 1 EP from the jamtronica pioneers STS9 on April 16th, just days before they were set to take the stage for a 2-night run in Nashville on 4/20 weekend. Although the city has welcomed the new AEG-owned Pinnacle venue into the city, Tribe went back to the notorious Skydeck on Broadway where they rocked for 4/20 last year as well. The Skydeck has an incredible view and can be found inside of a multiple-story food court & entertainment area called Assembly Food Hall, right in the heart of downtown right next to Bridgestone Arena.

These shows celebrated the release of Human Dream 1 in an exciting way, as STS9 was able to touch on each of the songs over the two night span. All but one of which were live debuts, making all the die-hard fans in attendance grateful for getting to experience such a especially curated weekend (a la their “Artifact” or “Axe The Cables” sets) ((while also making fans like me not in attendance have skyrocketing FOMO!)). They also unveiled a new light rig & setup, which is bittersweet, after recently parting with their longtime lighting designer the legendary Tiberius aka Lightiberius.
As for Human Dream 1… I’m not sure where to start honestly. It’s mind-blowing and I dont’ say that lightly. I mean from the beginning with “Glass z-13,” they immediately grab you with the classic Tribe vibes. Once the guitar creeps in on this, good luck turning off this EP. They keep bouncing throughout the next few tracks with infectious, contagious, growing energy. “Strange Games” is fun and catchy, while “Year Infinity” pushes the tempo a bit and by this point we’ve already gotten a complex showcase of various psychedelic, rock, jam & funk stylings. All while instrumental and electronic elements are blended seamlessly together.
Before the EP dropped, we got a single titled “Life’s a Symphony in Unity, It’s Alright,” which comes next and features the hypnotizing vocals by Maureen Murphy. This one serves as a great climax to the project before dropping into the quick “Home Park Interlude.” The EP ends with the lively “Peachtree,” which rounds out the project entirely – and is a perfect segway back to the beginning for when you listen to it on repeat!

The band has a huge summer & fall announced, between fests like Resonate in Suwanee in less than 2 weeks, and curated events like the Gorge. They also have this exciting 3-day event called “Camp Elsewhere,” presented by Music Masters Collective at Full Moon Resort in Big Indian, New York. This intimate experience includes SIX STS9 sets, including Axe the Cables & Wavespell, and promises things like unique sit-ins, interactive sample stations, an interactive percussion session w/Jeffree & Luke (Toubab Krewe), a STS9 Panel Q&A and more.

“Camp Elsewhere is an event designed to provide an inspirational and interactive experience, offering the opportunity to truly take a step “beyond backstage” and immerse yourself in the creative process… Join STS9 as we embark on a journey unlike any other before. Three nights of epic shows, interactive creative workshops, incredible guests, and nightly open community jam sessions.”
